CYTOCARE AUTOMATED CHEMOTHERAPY SYSTEM ACQUIRED FOR USE AT BAYLOR UNIVERSITY MEDICAL CENTER AT DALLAS

DALLAS, TX    August 1, 2007:  Health Robotics North America announced today that Baylor Health Care System has acquired its CytoCare™ compounding system to automate the mixture and preparation of chemotherapy medications at Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas (Baylor Dallas). Baylor Dallas will become the first hospital in Texas to utilize the CytoCare system.

CytoCare is recognized as a worldwide leader in patient specific, robotic chemotherapy admixtures.

Michael Sanborn, RPh., corporate director of pharmacy services at Baylor Health Care System, says that the decision to use an automated compounding system for Baylor’s  Dallas campus was made to improve overall safety.

Sanborn explained “Patients choose Baylor because of continual efforts to provide safe, quality care.  CytoCare can improve dosing accuracy and help reduce any potential risk of errors.”

In addition to reducing the amount of wasted medications, hospitals can also anticipate increased employee safety in the pharmacy as direct exposure to chemotherapy agents is virtually eliminated.

More than 10.000 doses of chemotherapy are prepared annually for inpatient use at Baylor Dallas.

“An essential element of CytoCare’s design is its ease of use, installation, and maintenance--which allows hospitals and pharmacies control costs,” said Jack Risenhoover, senior partner with Health Robotics North America.  He added, “We anticipate CytoCare’s ability to reduce costs, improve patient safety and protect employees will accelerate widespread adoption. Nearly everyone who views CytoCare in action starts off intrigued, when they discover they can actually afford this technology, they become excited.”

“We are pleased to add Baylor Health System to CytoCare’s growing family of more than 50 prestigious medical centers.” Risenhoover said.  CytoCare’s activated sites include Campus Biomedico at Rome, NHS Charing Cross Hospital at London, and Fredriksburg Cancer Center at Copenhagen.  CytoCare’s industrial technology and innovative engineering enhances sterility, delivers accurate doses for patients, and helps protect clinicians from the exposure to cytotoxic agents associated with manual compounding.
