Pharmacy Purchasing and Products

Using a robotic devise to automate the production of IV  syringes and bags, your facility is able to produce syringes and bags in a sterile environment, reduce the possibility of human errors in compounding and labeling, ensure that labels and bar codes are affixed to each of the robot-prepared syringes or bags, improve the efficiency of your of your facility's IV syringe and bag production, and, ultimately, decrease the costs associated with IV products.

Society of Hospital Pharmacists in Australia Substantial levels of cytotoxic drug contamination in drug preparation aras that utilise a CDSC [Cytotoxic Drug Safety Cabinet] were detected on a variety of surfaces. Reliance on CDSC to provide total protection from exposure to hazardous drugs is insufficient.

ims After three decades of research and development, advances in cancer therapy are finally bearing fruit and fulfilling the promise of improved outcomes for million of patients. There are more anti-cancer products in late-stage development than in any other medical sector. The size of the market has doubled in the last five years. The outlook for further growth has never been better.

Rand Corporation
Americans spend nearly $2 trillion a year on health care, but that’s about $1 trillion more than what Americans should be spending for what they’re getting in return. That’s the bold assertion of Paul O’Neill, former U.S. Secretary of the Treasury under President George W. Bush. Read about IV waste at USA hospitals.

It is anticipated that new molecules that target a mechanism, rather than a particular cancer, will be widely utilized through new combinations with existing chemotherapy treatments. Currently applied protocols will thus undergo thorough rewriting.  There will be new associations (surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy) with variable sequences.

USA Today
In 8 days last summer, the same dangerous inflammation struck 3 cardiac surgery patients at Mary Washington Hospital within hours of their operations. On Sept. 2, one man died. The hospital later determined that at least 11 cardiac surgery patients were stricken during a 10-month period from the end of December 2004 to September 2005, and three died. The illnesses and deaths drew attention to a practice few patients know about: Some drugs, including high-risk sterile preparations, are made in pharmacies under less-restrictive rules than those that
drug companies follow.
